CARDINALS twisted a ‘Tie’ with MEN in RED
By Akhil Ahuja

In BPL’s Champions League, Chicago United and Cardinals battled for over six hours without winning or losing in a seesaw match where both sides put in impressive and poor performances in patches. Cardinals slumped to 76 for 5 at halfway point due to Umair’s wizardry with the ball (4 wickets) and laser like stumpings by keeper Metha before heroics from skipper – Sanjeev bailed them out. Lower order fightback elevated cardinals to a slightly below par 192 on a batting paradise.
Chicago United started impressively fending off Bobby and other impressive seamers. They were in a winning position due to several cameos from Umair(56), Sami(29), Rup(21) and the rest but ultimately a la South Africa collapse from nowhere saw them needing 6 off the last over with nine ten and jack in the shed. Comedy of run outs, inexperience by the lower order and the tail coupled with strong fielding from cardinals saw them concede only 5 in the last over to miraculously ‘tie’ the game from a near certain losing position. Chicago United would have felt like they grabbed a tie from the jaws of victory.
