Abhijit’s form nips Cricket Merchant XI

Chicago United XI took on Cricket Merchant XI in their last league game of the Abid Laheri Tournament. Needing a win to qualify into the playoffs, CU won the toss and elected to bat first. Disaster struck in the first over when Safdar was caught behind. Abhi walked in #3 and stabilized the innings. Yaseen was stumped in the 5th over with the score at 33. Tafazzul joined Abhi and started building a partnership. With calculated hitting and quick running between the wickets, they added 60+ runs over the next 6 overs. Just when things started looking good, Tafazzul was caught at long off with the score around 97. Sami joined Abhi and started hitting the ball all around the park. Abhi continued his good form and scored a well made 60+ and CU finished their innings at 195 for 4 with Abhi and Sharad remaining not out.

CU started their second innings with some aggressive bowling and fielding. With a high score to chase, Cricket Merchant started losing wickets at regular intervals with CU fielders converting all their opportunities into wickets. Cricket Merchant finished their innings with a score of 136 for the loss of 7 wickets giving CU another comprehensive win.

For his outstanding knock with the bat, Abhi is named Player of the Game.
