It was a bright and beautiful sunny day at Washington Park, Chicago. The underdogs, St Louis arrived ahead of time after a five hours drive.
St Louis won the toss and elected to bat. The openers, Sohail and Ankur gave them a good start with a 70 runs partnership. Ibrahim khaleel and Kashan bowled very well and limited STL to 190/9 in their 40 overs.
Looking at CU’s line up, a mix of experienced and rookie players, this was an achievable target. However, CU lost their opener Akhil Ahuja very early on at 17 runs. STL picked up wickets at regular intervals. As expected, the experienced Skipper Sami (38)and All-rounder Askari (52), stabilized the innings with a 90 runs partnership. Soon after Sami was stumped, Askari was out with 25 runs to win in 8 overs and 4 wickets. Shishir of STL bowled very well to arrest CU’s lower order batting and CU were all out, short of 8 runs to victory and 8 balls remaining.
STL had a fun trip back home!
