After several ‘washout’ matches, a cloud of excitement hovered over the CU camp. Chicago United hosted Purdue Cricket Club on Saturday, June 6th. The game began as expected at 10 AM. CU won the toss and elected to bat first. The start was a bit slow, as the batting conditions were a bit tough. Good bowling and fielding efforts by Purdue, added to CU’s challenge. However, CU openers gave a 50 run partnership for the 3rd straight game of the season. Captain Sami, Tafazzul, Sharad, Umair, and Krishna all chipped in to close the innings at 215/7.

CU started their bowling in attacking fashion as captain Sami struck early and took two wickets to put Purdue in trouble immediately. Talha bowled an outstanding spell at the other end to keep the pressure up. Purdue fought back well to be 70 odd runs for the loss of 2 wickets at the 20 over break. After some great bowling, the 80+ run partnership for the third wicket fell for Purdue at the score of 125. After this, Chicago United struck on continuous intervals and Purdue were limited to a score of 181 for the loss of 8 wickets at the end of 40 overs. Interesting game overall and a good win for Chicago United. ‘Man of the Match’ was awarded to Syed Safder for his hard fought 50.
