Launch Of # PlayCricket
Chicago United (CU) community demonstrated agility off the ground to celebrate a successful 2019 cricket season. On the evening of February 22nd, 2020 Chicago United hosted its very own banquet and award ceremony in a grand manner. The glittery and fun filled event was attended by the teams current and former players along with their families.
Ifad Noor, the MC of the event, kept the audience entertained with his humor throughout.
The evening started off by the unveiling of newly designed 2020 practice T-shirts, ‘Champions 2019’ team jackets and #PlayCricket. Our President, Nadeem Zain and the skipper, Sami Khan, flaunted the new and stylish jackets for the
‘Men in Red‘.
In the absence of the social media manager and designer, Dew Mandiye, the Practice T-shirt was released by Venkatesh Naidu.
With many indicators pointing towards a decline in new players playing the sport of cricket, CU released #PlayCricket to increase visibility of the sport with a hope to invite new youth cricketers. #PlayCricket is a free and ‘open to all’ program for teams, leagues and cricket organizations to engage with and promote the sport of cricket.
CU is the only cricket team in the Chicago area which has won four of five tournaments it competed in. Apart from being the strongest and the most talented team, it is widely respected and highly regarded. This tremendous success and adulation is owed to all our players. They were each recognized and commended for their contributions of a successful 2019 season. Players were given trophies and presented with their 2020 kits.
The special award ceremony was followed by dinner which was enjoyed by one and all. Chicago United wishes all cricket teams and leagues a great 2020 cricket season ahead.
