Bolingbrook Raiders Vs Chicago United
By Shahmeer K

On Sunday, June 21st, Chicago United (CU) took on the Bolingbrook Raiders in the BPL 30/30 league match. Keshav Kapoor (U-15), Pulkit Chauhan (U-15) and experienced 1st class Pakastani cricketer, Kashan Khan debuted for CU. Indeed, a good blend of upcoming and experienced cricketers.

Under wet conditions, Chicago United won the toss and elected to bat. After losing 3 quick wickets at the top, Yaseen and Kashan stabilized the innings and kept the scoreboard ticking. Soon after his 50, Yaseen got out in the 15th over but the scoring for Chicago United kept going at a good rate with Kashan and Sunny Sohal on the crease. Later, captain Sami and Sharad had a great partnership including several effortless huge sixes all over the ground. Sami scored 57 in 27 balls while Sharad scored 61 (not out) in 28 balls. CU stacked up 250 runs in their 30 overs.

During the innings break, CU’s ‘red cap’ ceremony was performed. Sunny Sohal, Kashan Khan and Sharad Lumba were welcomed and recognized. They were all presented with the traditional CU red caps and player numbers.
Chicago United started great in the bowling department and continued to take wickets at regular intervals. Raiders were all out for the score of 108. Shahmeer for the 1st time this season, got the ball. He had the best bowling figures of 4 overs, 14 runs, and 2 wickets and captain Sami had figures of 6 overs, 31 runs, and 2 wickets. Sunny Sohal, Keshav Kapoor (U-15), Pulkit Chauhan (U-15), and Sharad Lumba all contributed with 1 wicket each. Overall, an easy win for Chicago United.
