CU – REDS PICK UP DOUBLE WINS – Hasan Bemat (101 in 63), Anirudh Jonnavitula (81) and Venkatesh Naidu (71)
Match1: Chicago United – Reds VS Chargers
CU – Reds faced Chargers on their First game of the season. Chargers put CU – Reds to bat first after winning the toss. CU Reds opened the batting with their successful opening pair Anirudh and Venkatesh Naidu. Anirudh once again showcased his brilliance with the bat leading the scorecard with 81 runs of 67 balls with 5*4’s and 4*6’s. Anirudh and Hasan added a partnership of 100 runs for the 3rd wicket and Sami Khan’s fireworks at the end helped CU Reds get a total of 220 runs in 30 overs.
Chargers coming into bat were put into pressure straight away with back to back wickets on the second over by Sami. Akhil Sridher and Sameer Khan then had a steady partnership of 109 runs for the 3rd wicket which was not enough for the chargers as they collapsed after Neil Shah got the better of Sameer with his brilliant flight and Roopan did the rest behind the stumps. Neil Shah bowled a brilliant spell of 6 overs for just 18 runs and picking up the most important wicket of the Chargers skipper which helped CU Reds beat Chargers by 20 runs.

Match2: Chicago United – Reds VS Warriors
Winning the Toss Chicago United Reds opted to bat on a day where the weather was not ideal for Cricket with temperature dropping to 35F. Venkatesh Naidu continued his form to score yet another 50. Coming to bat at number 4 after 2 quick wickets CU’s start batsman Hasan Bemat smashed 100 of just 63 deliveries. Abdul Kareem played the finishers role scoring 38 of just 17 which helped CU Reds score a mammoth total of 281 runs in 30 overs.
With the Chicago weather playing its part, the condition got even tougher in the second innings with the cold winds making it difficult for the fielders. Warriors skipper Shrey Sharma scored 89 of 42 balls and Warriors 161 for for 3 during the 15th over break with only 120 needed in the next 15. The time out helped Chicago Reds to bounce back well. Reds star bowlers Nadeem Williams and Najmi bowled with their never give up attitude to get the Reds back in the game by picking back to back wickets. Warriors were then bowled out for 201 in the 24th over with Najmi picking 3 wickets and Nadeem Williams and Neil Shah picking up 2 each. CU Reds secured their second win in the day by 80 runs.
