VISHNU (78), ARNAV (39), Aditya (30) and OCARI (3 Wks) KEEP GOLDEN EAGLES FROM SOARING
Another great outing for the CU Div 2 team at Balstrode park. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, the first wicket partnership between Venkatesh Naidu and Aditya Tirumale put the ‘Men in Red’ on track for a challenging total. Aditya’s aggressive rapid fire 30 from 27 put the Eagles on the back foot. Following the fall of a few wickets in quick succession, Vishnu Kammari took to the crease and stole the show. With an aggressive but smart approach, Vishnu made easy work of the Eagles bowlers, scoring boundaries in regular intervals while rotating strike effectively. Arnav Sridher provided great support at the other end and held his own with the bat. Vishnu’s quick fire 78 from 67 balls and Arnav’s 39 from 43 compounded to an impressive 4th wicket partnership that solidified the innings for the men in red. With a target set for 211 runs, CU took to the field with an attitude to win in a convincing manner. The CU quicks put pressure on the Eagles from the start and made way for Ocarie Simms to come in the middle overs and scalp 3 wickets in quick succession. The sustained fielding pressure and energy took the men in red home and restricted the Eagles from soaring anywhere near the target. The opposition only managed to gather a total of 121 with the loss of 9 wickets. Man of the match was awarded to our very own Vishnu Kammari for his brilliant knock!
