Chicago United won the toss and put Super Kings to field. Openers Rahul Sharma and Adithya Tirumale got off with a firing start but Super Kings locked the openers at 42/2 in 6 overs. Chicago’s best left hand bat and off spinner, Najam Iqbal played an inferno innings to loft the ball all around the boundary line to earn 191 runs quickly in 92 balls (8×4’s and 19×6’s). In a support role, Chicago’s stellar wicket keeper Venkatesh Naidu (Venky) added 61 runs (in 52 balls) to build an impressive partnership of 224 third wicket partnership. Venky is well respected as midwest areas most agile keeper . Skipper Sami M Khan scored a blazing 36 in 12 balls to post a total of 343 runs in 30 overs.
With ton loads of cricketing experience, Najam Iqbal is an extremely talented young cricketer. His left bat and off spin combination would be an add value to any team from club to International cricket. Najam’s temperament combined with his power hitting makes him a skilled Batsman . With the leather, he can spin a few feet away (on turf) keeping the batsmen guessing with line, length and pace . Indeed a smart spin bowler and lethal all-rounder!
