Chicago United vs Eagles
By Raghu Varakala

The spirts were at the Chicago United (CU) dug out were high as they prepared to take on Eagles. Umpire Sadiq was all set to return to Chicago’s umpiring fraternity. Eagles played their full squad while CU continued to present experimental opportunities to develop local cricketers. Eagles won the toss and elected to bat.

Chicago United’s Khader picked up an early wicket of Prayath in the 1st over of the innings. With extremely effective bowling from Askari and Khader, Eagles focused on clinging on their wickets. At the 10th eagles were at 28/2. Datta (48) and Prakash (39) lead eagles batting to a modest 198 in their 40 overs.

CU Openers, Abhjit (39) and Yaseen (40) have had good partnerships consistently this season. Eagles bowlers were challenged to pick up their 1st wicket until a run out of Yaseen presented a break through with another dismissal of Sikandar Gill in two consecutive overs. Ahmed’s (32) explosive batting with a few clean ‘maximums’ and Khader’s (26) could not rescue CU batting as Eagles continued to pick up wickets. CU were 46 runs short of a win.
