MILWAUKEE DROPS TO CU
Milwaukee CC vs Chicago United
By Raghu Swaminathan
The boundary line at Lincoln Park, Milwaukee was engulfed with lots of excitement as Chicago United prepared for its traditional ‘Red Cap’ ceremony, a traditional welcome for the CU debutants. Debutants (Goutham, Ibrahim, Srinivas, Askari, Paul and Khader) were presented with their unique player number and traditional cricket red cap followed by warm up drills.
After winning the toss, Milwaukee cc choose to bat first and posted a total of 120 runs on board in 34.5 overs. A fantastic 33 runs knock by Vinoth from MCC. A majestic display of bowling by Khader, Yaseen, Askari, Raghu Swaminathan, Sami and Abhijit controlled the runs on the board. Skipper Mohammed Sami finished with 3/29 runs in 8 overs.
In reply, CU openers Abhijit Joshi and Yaseen Ahmed started a quick fire to chase the total. After losing the first wicket off Abhijit Joshi in the 5th over CU was 51/1. Ibrahim Khaleel and Yaseen batted aggressively. Chicago United reached the total in 19.2 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. CU would have chased this with much more ease but CU skipper presented development opportunities to some players.
After the match, CU players regrouped at a restaurant and enjoyed some snacks, chai and laughs!
